This flexible, comprehensive system diagnostic and repair tool requires a keen eye and steady hand. PC Surgeon's simple tool list and results display uses a browser-style framework. A simple wizard guides users through the install process, while the basic help file is designed for advanced users. An additional tool helps users find information on the Web.

PC Surgeon's Easy Tune Up simply deletes select detritus from your system; quickly eliminating temporary files, cache files, cookies, and select Registry settings. Monitoring tools accurately record real-time system data. Simple repair tools defrag memory, recover deleted files, passwords, and product keys with little need for user intervention. A folder synchronization tool is easy to use for quick jobs, but can't be scheduled. The program's prevention tools help advanced users keep systems relatively virus free, but don't replace robust antivirus programs. The program's remaining features are examination tools. The majority are quick exams with simple results for advanced users.

There are few diagnostic tools this program doesn't feature. However, every result and report displays data with little or no explanation. We liked PC Surgeon, but only for intermediate to advanced users with a strong understanding of their system data. The 15-day demo will give you more than enough time to find out if you have the skills to accurately interpret PC Surgeon's data.
