While no PC accelerator will help every user, this tool contains dozens of settings to help speed up your system. Sporting a wizard for novice users, PC Accelerator is still a tool best utilized by experts. The interface is dozens of check boxes spread over more than 25 tabs. Don't expect detailed information about this complex program, although tooltips offer very brief explanations of each setting. The online help button failed to bring any help during testing. A wizard for novice users asks four simple questions and then adjusts some settings, but we found no improvement using it on our test systems.
The publisher promises no settings limitations, but the lack of a user manual makes PC Accelerator a demo only for the confident and prepared user. Invoking the wrong setting could destabilize your system, although this application backs up your settings before making changes. You can easily restore the last backup, but there is no method to step back to earlier backups.
Warnings aside, what does this utility alter? The primary areas control settings for networking, video, graphics, security, file system, various applications, and other settings. In other words, if there is a Windows setting, this application probably can change it. Almost all settings are invoked with simple check boxes. A few are sliders or pull-down menus. After making a change, just click Apply Settings. After a backup is automatically saved, you're asked to restart your system.
Will you notice a speed improvement? Not always. It really depends on your current system setup. We liked the simple way to get to so many system options. Still, we would recommend only expert users test this application, and even they should make a system backup before installation.

Version: PC Accelerator 2007 Edition 1.2.17
Pros: none
Cons: Large file with too many confusing adjustments, with no acceleration in trial version. I wonder why this programmer would not give you a sample of the full version as a trial. In my opining purchasing this would be a waste of money.
