This screensaver delivers what it promises and costs nothing, but it still leaves us with an overall lukewarm impression. Oregon Coast Screen Saver gives you a variety of images from the Beaver State, ranging from shots of waves breaking on a rocky coast to pictures of tugboats. However, we weren't impressed with the application's image quality; some of the shots look washed-out, while others appear grainy and blurry. A soundtrack might help compensate for the flawed photos, but the demo appears to disable this option. You can set the image redraw speed and enable transitions, though you can't actually enable or disable specific effects. It won't hurt you try this freebie, but we do question how much long-term appeal it will have for even die-hard nature lovers.
