Ook? Video Ook! is preferable to similar Firefox plug-ins because, simply put, it lets you go bananas with videos. It offers one-click downloading and allows you to save the embedded clip to your hard drive in its native format: Flash video, WMP, or MOV. Ook? Video Ook! also saves the latest YouTube trend with its original name or one of your own devising, not some nonsensical code. Other functions include user control over the download location and the application's visibility, integration with the DownThemAll plug-in, and automatic updates. The interface is simple and uncluttered, always a plus. Tiny but powerful--and, most importantly, useful--Ook? Video Ook! is a must-have for grabbing online video content.

  Not For All Youtube Videos

  Pros: Yes, it is easy to use but not for all Youtube videos.

  Cons: Can't view with RealPlayer. Need to view with VLC and convert to .wmv by it with wizard.

  Stopped working back in Aug 2007

  Pros: fine concept

  Cons: Apparently it used to work, but stopped last year, possibly because YouTube changed something on their site. There is a message thread about this on the Firefox addons page for this addon. Why download.com is still offering it, and recommending it in current articles, I don't know.

  Awesome! Works perfectly, everytime!

  Pros: It's great! I can save anything, quickly and easily, just by clicking on the little symbol in the bottom left-hand corner of the window (which I think is why some people claim it doesn't work, they don't know what/where it is!) And it doesn't rely on another site the way another video downloader extension does, so it always works!

  Download file shows as a Netscape Theme or extension package

  Pros: It seems to be great (but I could not evaluate/use it)

  Cons: I downloaded the file and my computer tried to install it in Netscape, but the software is not compatible with Netscape so it could not be installed. What changed that others were able to install it?

  The software should have a readme.text file and allow the option to add it to a menu in the browser.
