Publisher's description of Norton Confidential
From Symantec:Norton Confidential is an innovative new security solution that will help protect you while you are most vulnerable when banking or shopping online, or at any Web site where you are submitting passwords, account numbers or other confidential information. The Norton Confidential toolbar integrates into your Internet Explorer browser and provides clear visual indication of whether it's safe or unsafe to proceed with a login or transaction. Prior to an interaction that requires your personal data, Norton Confidential quickly and automatically inspects both the PC and the Web site, protecting you from known or suspicious phishing sites, crimeware and other threats designed to steal your confidential information. If a threat is detected, Norton Confidential protects your information from an attack such as getting phished by fraudulent Web sites, or having your keystrokes secretly recorded by identity thieves.
Note: The Download Now link will direct you to the developer's site where you'll be asked to provide your e-mail address to download a file.

3.0 stars
This application protects against attempts to steal personal data, although its monitoring results were hit-or-miss. Norton Confidential is a pretty lengthy download, requiring 31 MBs to operate. After entering your name and other personal info for the installation, you'll receive the program's download link via e-mail.
Its vibrant interface is easy to program for protection against phishing. The program, which works with Internet Explorer, reveals any efforts to steal information by displaying a suspicious site message on its toolbar. A stat report of fraudulent sites and suspicious programs is given, along with some basic security suggestions to guard your PC.
Beyond just giving tips, it actually blocks fraudulent sites from gathering your personal log-in information. Unfortunately, we frequently received engine error messages on the toolbar rather than accurate site analyses, and we were encouraged to restart our browser to no effect. Norton Confidential also slowed Web surfing and Windows, and was even slow at uninstalling itself. With some of its efforts ineffective, this 15-day trial may not always provide the reliability you need to fight the war against identity theft.

"TERRIBLE product, WORSE Tech Support"
Pros: I don't know who would rate this product anything but worthless, but I installed it Thursday night and it crashed my computer. Then I uninstalled it and had to use Norton Removal Tool which uninstalled FIVE Norton products before I could reinstalle it. Then it came up with an installation error and I had to call "premium" tech support and they reinstalled it last night (day 4) and it STILL didn't work. I've called them 4 times today and been disconnected three times, and I've used the internet tech support and been left waiting three times for a total of 4 hours 23 minutes for someone to come online to help. In fact, I'm still waiting (on the phone) as I type this for a tech support person to come back and help again. because the program just sits on my computer and does nothing. It is loaded correctly and set up correctly, but doesn't collect any passwords. Any person who buys worthless software (and I am shocked to have to write this because I have used Norton products for over 20 years now), should remember the old saying...
Cons: It doesn't work, and the tech support is worthless. I have 7 case numbers since last Thursday in an attempt to get it to work. I have spent over 4 hours online in Tech Support with 5 case numbers, 5 Phone calls: One to Premium Tech Support to re-install the software last night, and Four today in order to get it to collect passwords...and I am on call No. 4 as I type this waiting for them to come back to the phone again. They have tried to operate my computer by remote to make it work, only to be disconnect again and again. The Tech Support is worse than the program (and they dare to call it "award winning").

Version: Norton Confidential
Pros: its really good at detecting dodgy sites,it tells you if its safe to proceed, you can save passwords if you like,a nice interface works along side norton protection centre, all in all if you want an extra layer of security that works well with windows xp anyway, then i recommend this product, auto updates alongside norton anti-virus,,also loads of little customising options within the menu, easily downloads on to your system no probs,a good addition to work with norton internet security,
Cons: takes a few seconds to monitor the site you are on but after it gives a good detailed report if safe or not.im happy with it.
