Publisher's description of NoAds
From South Bay Software:
NoAds stops Internet popup ads from getting in the way of your web surfing. NoAds is fully configurable, allowing you to specify which ads you want to be destroyed automatically. It supports most popular Web browsers, including Microsoft Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, Netscape, and America Online. The program is very easy to use, and stays running in the system tray for quick access.

Editor's review of NoAds
In spite of a few pluses, this pop-up blocker performs poorly. To NoAds's credit, it does support quite a few browsers beyond Internet Explorer, including Firefox, AOL, and Netscape. It comes loaded with a list of common pop-up ads to target, such as those that come from Angelfire home pages. Still, it lets through most pop-ups you might encounter in an average surfing session. Although NoAds lets you add new targets to its databases, most users will abandon this complicated and inconvenient process before completion. The app offers no white list or options for allowing pop-ups, and it's utterly powerless against banner and Flash ads. Besides its support for multiple browsers, the best news about this application is its freeware price. Because of that, we can cautiously recommend NoAds to very occasional Web surfers, but everyone else will find it an unacceptable solution.

Does what I need well.

Pros: I have tried other pop-up blockers that either don't work, or blocks too much (ie: pop-up menus, wanted web pages that open in new windows, etc.) This pop-up blocker is configurable, allowing the user to decide what pops up, and what doesn't. The interface is simple, once learned. I highly reccommend this blocker to anyone who wants to control the function of their pop-up blocker.
Cons: This blocker does require being taught what to recognize. Although it does already recognize quite a few major pop-up violators, you will still get some. Once you tell the program to recognize it though, the offending ad will not pop-up again. It even has a wild card feature so you can teach it entire groups of pop-ups, but you do have to be careful using that feature. The help file teaches you the correct way to use that, and it's other features though.

Pros: Easy to install and use. It has a base rules of pop ups that it comes withs to block automatically and more ads can be easily added. The number of browsers it supports is another nice feature, it not only works for IE but firefox and opera as well. It doesn't bog down your system at all.
Cons: You have to manually check for updates..

NoAds
Simple and reliable

Pros: It blocks every pop-up that I tell it to. I use it as a supplement to Internet Explorer's built-in pop-up blocker. I have certain sites that I want to allow most pop-ups from, but that also have annoying and useless ones that I would like to block. Internet Explorer blocks each site all-or-nothing, so you can't block just certain pop-ups from a particular site. This program allows you to block pop-ups by title, so it mops up those extra ones that Internet Explorer can't.
The program is unobtrusive and easy to add targets to. It is fairly quick about closing a targeted pop-up.
Cons: I'm not sure it is good enough to be a stand-alone blocker. It doesn't explicitly support blocking all pop-ups by site, although it does support wildcards, so it might be possible to do it.
