While it combines several utilities in one package, this inflexible application isn't all that impressive and the combination of a limited Help file and demo limitations make it worse. New Utilities offers a selection of separate interfaces called from a common icon driven program menu. The majority of the interfaces offer little information on too-small dialog boxes. The few words in the single page Help file don't provide enough information to adequately explain the various functions.

New Utilities separates functions into eight sections: system information, Registry utilities, Drive utilities, Memory management, Windows tweaks, Internet Explorer tweaks, Outlook tweaks, and Security utilities. Most of the functions offer very little user control. The applications are often preset to work with certain options. Attempting to change the options is either not available or triggers a dialog forcing the user to register the app to make the change. Many of the applications are slower and less flexible than similar applications in the genre. The XP Management function is merely a list of links to Windows utilities.

New Utilities does helpfully include quick actions to fix common Registry and Startup problems and to eliminate temporary files. Still, that isn't enough to save this application. There's too little help for novice users who might appreciate the simplicity of some of the program's functions, but there's too little program flexibility for advanced users who don't need a user manual.
