This bowling game is cheerful and free, but on most other counts it fails to impress. The Flash-based game lets you bowl 10 frames in the company of a smiling Loch Ness Monster and a crying baby. Though the cartoon-based graphics are mostly well-designed, we couldn't stand the sound effects; the crash of the falling pins is way too distorted, and the wails of the baby are almost instantly aggravating. It's also strange and disappointing that Nessie's Fantasy Bowling Game doesn't even score strikes and spares a la traditional bowling. The feature set also is noticeably small; you can resize the game to a full-screen view, but you can't disable the audio, change your ball, or bowl in another lane. Small children and office workers on break might take this program for a spin every once in a blue moon, but the majority of users will prefer a more robust bowling sim.
