This program can rename multiple files, folders, MP3s, and WMAs, convert images, and edit file properties. It also features the ability to save your renaming settings, drag-and-drop items in lists, create log files, and has optional shell-integration with Windows right-click menus. The batch file renamer can rename files and folders using many practical and fully customizable options (see screenshot). Saved Web pages can also be renamed. The batch MP3 and WMA renamer can rename MP3s and WMAs using ID3v2, ID3v1, and WMA tags. There is also an ID3 tag editor and an ID3 missing tag searcher.

The batch image converter can resize images and convert image formats to and from: BMP, GIF (transparency), ICO (transparency), JPEG (image quality), PNG, and TIFF. The batch property modifier can modify file properties (date and time created, modified, and last accessed) and file attributes (archive, read-only, hidden, and system).

This handy batch-renaming tool packs some nice extras for file management, but won't win any aesthetic awards. Name and Property Modifier's outdated interface lacks creativity and doesn't include a help file, but fortunately it's easy enough to understand. The program is integrated with the Windows shell, conveniently renaming files and folders from the right-click menu. Like similar applications, this program provides several renaming options, such as the ability to standardize letter case, change file extensions, add a number scheme or date and time, and add, remove, or replace characters. For your MP3 or WMA collection, the program edits ID3 tags or creates name templates based on any combination of tags extracted from the file. In our tests, the program was quite easy to use, demonstrated good speed, and let us preview changes, though we wish it offered a way to undo changes and save renamed files to a different location. It also modifies date and time stamps, renames folders at once, and resizes and converts images. However, the trial version can only process 15 items per run. Despite these drawbacks, the seven-day trial program does its job fairly well, and we recommend it to users who often need to rename large numbers of files and folders.

  "Best file renamer out there"

  Pros: This does exactly what it says: renames files without loss of data. It also has an MP3 and WMA name converter that can change the name in many different formats.

  Recommended for people who just want to change file names, because programs like this just don't pop out of no where.

  Cons: Although it will rename the file how you want it (depending on how you rename it), there are times you want to add character(s) in the middle of the name. It takes two name changin processes to complete that. But nothing too bad.

  "Program crashes and that's the end"

  Pros: DOA

  Cons: What a piece of junk. Installed program on 2 separate machines and program crashes on both machines! All I got was "loading" and then it just dies.

  "GREAT product! Easy to use, performs functions fast!"

  Pros: Well, since they have a free trial download, I simply recommend you try it and see for yourself how good it is. Make sure to checkmark "Clear All Options" when starting a new function. I didn't see that originally and thought the features weren't working :), but everything works GREAT when used correctly. It's an excellent product for simplifying batch modifications of filenames and properties!
