This absolutely standard, yet free pop-up blocker, worked quite well in our tests, but like many of its brethren, it is powerless against floating pop-ups. Smart Popup Blocker indicates its presence with a system-tray icon and will blink or emit a gunshot sound when eliminating a pop-up ad. If you occasionally want pop-ups from certain sites, you can temporarily disable the utility by holding the Ctrl key or by adding the URL to the Allowed list. However, we were somewhat disenchanted to discover Smart Popup Blocker works only with Internet Explorer. However, though the program takes more PC resources than we'd like, it didn't slow down computer use and Web surfing in our tests. The application also has a privacy feature that deletes cookies. If you don't need a full range of features for pop-up protection, this application will certainly do.

"Not so good"

Cons: Doesn't stop anything. The audio in pop-ups starts before the pop-up appears which is incredibly annoying. Don't bother.

Pros: Program is small, installs well, works fine and has a white list

Cons: has no black list, ONLY starts automatically with IE
