My Lockbox is a freeware software application that allows you to password protect whatever file on your computer. The protected folder (lockbox) is hidden from any user and application of your system, including Administrator and System itself. It is impossible to access the lockbox not only from the local computer, but also from the net.

The program is extremely easy to use. You can set the lockbox location and the password during the setup procedure. After the setup is done, lockbox will be hidden and locked until you enter the valid password. My Lockbox Control Panel allows you easily change basic lockbox parameters: lockbox location, protection status, password. This version is the first release on CNET Download.com.

This small, easy-to-use freeware tool efficiently protects a single folder from prying eyes. During install you easily set your protected folder and password. After that you could get by with never using My Lockbox's options dialog again. A single shortcut opens the program and a click on a tray icon will lock your folder and close the application.

My Lockbox simply hides a folder and all its contents from view. The program protects a single folder whose size is limited only by the space available on your hard drive. You can simply drop files into the protected folder, lock the folder using the handy tray icon, and the files disappear from view. It takes only a few seconds to make basic option changes in the program's multitabbed options dialog. You can quickly change the folder location in a single step, or the password in two. Altering the option's hot key take only a press of your intended key combination. Setting the program to auto-update is just as easy.

Similar applications often fail when shortcuts open files hidden in the protected folders. That isn't the case with this freeware application. Every user with a desire to create a well hidden folder on their system will find My Lockbox fits their need.

  Good Security App

  Pros: It does what it says. It also LOCKED a folder I have on my external hard drive. I was quite surprised. The folder has about 1gb of files in it. Well worth the download.

  Pros: ive looked for something like this to put personal documents without locking up everything. i've changed the name and the icon to look like a program download in my documents. i named it stfo.exe, lol

  Best application of it's type I've found so far!

  Pros: I've spent many, many hours downloading music to my hard drive. An investment in both time and money. I've even installed a backup hard drive to back up my tunes just in case. So it's simple peace of mind knowing that my backed up tunes are safe from both human and program (spyware, viruses) intrusion. The best feature is that it's super simple to use so even a novice to computers shouldn't have any problem with this application!

  Cons: It will only secure one file or folder. Also after you use the program and relock your file it will continue to run as a background process. However that's no problem for me. I just use Glarysoft's Security Process Explorer 1.6 (I highly recommend this software as well) to kill the program when I'm finished using it. Saving on some system resources.

  Pros: |t stores the files in a seperate folder which is invisible without the password which is a very good concept.Great job!
