MetaProducts Download Express is a Windows 95/98/NT/2000/Me/XP/2003 program that allows you to download individual files from the Web and FTP sites at the maximum possible speed. Multiple-channel technology significantly reduces download times. The program is a small (about 400KB) Internet Explorer plug-in that currently supports IE 4.0 and higher. By default, MetaProducts Download Express intercepts all clicks on files with extensions including 123, ARJ, CAB, CDW, COM, DOC, EXE, JAR, LHA, MP2, MP3, MPE, MPEG, MPG, PDF, PPT, RAR, RTF, TAR, XLS, and ZIP. MetaProducts Download Express has an autolearn feature and will ask you about including filename extensions when you add new ones using hot keys. When you cancel, MetaProducts Download Express opens a file window for unwanted file types and asks if you want to exclude those extensions from its list.

Version 1.6 SR1 added a new browser-integration method for IE 6.0 and higher and improved download resumption.

Though this download manager did help speed up program downloads during our testing, its lack of features doesn't set it apart from the pack of similar freeware programs. MetaProducts Download Express is unique in that it works as a plug-in to the Internet Explorer browser. When you want to download a file, you click the appropriate link in your browser window, and a pop-up screen walks you through the rest. That said, the pop-up screen gets pesky as it appears for every download instance. To monitor downloads or resume broken connections, you have to load a standalone Project list from the main program. There aren't any advanced features, such as the ability to schedule downloads or sort files. Overall, if you're simply looking for a way to speed downloads without taking up too much system space, this program will suffice.

  Product is free but works very not stably and product not is comfortable

  Cons: Gets not all files correctly.

  Some links does not process.

  This product not is comfortable in the use.

  it is not fast and easy. Other product is stable.

  Dima_R which gives all download managers 1 is absolutelly uncompetent and seems never tries them at all.

  MetaProducts Download Express

  ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL!!!

  Pros: I was using Internet Download Manager (paid Version) for about a year. I tried this and stuck with it. I just like it better. I have the licenced version now and love the little pie graph in the sys tray that shows amount of download completed. Also it can resume files if connection lost and can have it set to shutdown computer when download is completed. Also uses a tiny extension to integrate into firefox if you want and you can have it scan dl's with your antivirus. Speeds are good and it is very stable and reliable. When I get a DL manager I want it to dl files or programs and have resume. That's it! People who say it doesn't have enough features are freakin nuts!!! So what if it doesn't make your coffee in the morning. Atleast it downloaded your porn file good this morning uh? Trust me. Atleast give it a shot and I'm sure you won't be dissapointed.

  MetaProducts Download Express

  Way better than I expected

  Pros: I had been using a free version of "Star downloader" for about 6months untill last friday the 13th when my computer took a major dump. The downloader was one of the applications not backed up so I need to download it again. I saw this one and how much smaller the memory footprint was and decided to try it. Damn glad I did. I was happy with SD Free, but Express is somewhat faster still. It breaks DLs into 7 threads and when 1 thread finishes faster than another, the finished 1 will start again in the middle of the longest thread left to finish leaving nothing Idle, that is so Trick, and effective. The interface to my Browser is flawless(which was 1 of the few things I didn't lile about SD free). I reall like the Map display of the download in progress and am getting used to the cheesy looking Locomotive logo. All in all this one of the best best operating and usefull apps I have downloaded here, a keeper, I even backed it up this time.

  Cons: Not really a con but the "Locomotive" really is Cheesy looking.

  MetaProducts Download Express

  Best one for IE Users

  Pros: This is the best one for Internet Explorer users.

  1.) It's free

  2.) No nags, adware, spyware, bundled or etc...

  3.) Simple even for a novice.

  4.) Really does what it says, and that is speed up dloads.

  I could go on and on, but I don't use IE any more, but when I did, Download Express was the only one I found that I continued using. :o)

  Cons: Doesn't work with good browsers like Mozilla Firefox.
