Version: Acronis True Image Home 11
"I can't use it but a friend bought it and,"
Pros: I can't use it. When I tried it was next to impossible to install on Vista big time slow, not at all user friendly and blue screened my XP Pro system. A friend bought it and it blue screened his Vista Home Premium system too. It turned out to be a real disaster. There are other options and one in particular thats simple and effective. I'm a backup junkie but this is a program I can't recommend at all.
Cons: Sorry, but I'm trying to cover this backup / drive clone thing i one place. Guess this takes more savvy then this old man has to use this program successfully. Farstone Technology's Drive Clone Pro is also slow and requires it's own storage spot. It prompts that all other data on the target drive will be lost. But (and I'm not one that likes Norton) Norton Ghost v12 and up is amazing. If you look at my reviews, you will see that "amazing" is a term I've never before used.
I broke down and came off the cash to buy one after i watched it work once. And I can't say how pleased I am with it. Just watching it work is a real eye opener. Not only is it simple to use, it's easy to configure and get along with. It paths to the external hard drive on its own ( by default ) and one license installed on all three of our systems. Plus, the computer can be booted from the CD for disaster recovery.

"Will NOT install without errors & my data corruption"
Pros: Backup before trying to install this software
Cons: Tried to install but it gave me a BSOD on my WinXP Pro & corrupted pieces of the Registry. Had to go back to the previous restore point & lost some data. Wasted about 2 days with this "software". This program should be classed as malware!!!

Version: Acronis True Image Home 11
Pros: Did get a chance to find anything nice.
Cons: Installed trial version on new Vista PC. It hung 38% into the first backup and nothing I could do could persuade it to budge or start a new backup. I started again and it went straight to 38% and stayed there. I have now deleted the program and will look for something else to repalce Vista built-in backup program (which is not sufficiently customisable for me).

Version: Acronis True Image Home 11
Pros: I had 2 IDE drives that were slow, loud, and about to die.
I installed ATI and created an image of each drive on an external usb HDD.
I powered down, installed 2 new SATA drives and booted from the easy to create Bootable Recovery Disk (for use in an instance like mine, where no OS is in place).
I restored each image to a new HDD.
Unplugged the usb and booted right from the new drive.
All of my files, apps, music, vids, and OS were exacly as they were before - but with almost a TB of new storage!
Cons: It's expensive and many report errors and an assortment of problems.
For me it did EXACTLY what I needed.

Version: Acronis True Image Home 11
Pros: I've moved many clients into using this software for several years and it has installed and behaved perfectly every single time. It has proved a life saver for clients and on my several systems without fail. I won't even begin to work on a system without imaging the drive first.
Cons: I didn't write it.
