Mega Disc is a program for cataloging and locating your CDs. It has many features for managing music CDs, DVDs, MP3s, and data discs. It catalogs your music CD collection using information from the Gracenote CDDB music recognition service (the world s largest music database), so you don't have to type. Any kind of CD your computer can recognize can be added to the catalog.

In addition to being a full-featured disc cataloger, Mega Disc has unique capabilities for tracking and locating your discs. Mega Disc organizes your loose discs into a library of viewable storage units, making it easy to find and retrieve them. It lets you see what is in a container of discs, making it more convenient to keep your disc library in high-density storage cases or binders (without jewel cases). No matter what you store your CDs in, with or without jewel cases, they can be organized into a real library. It is freeware, there is no advertising or spyware.

If you're drowning in a sea of CDs, DVDs, and MP3s, this freeware media-management program may be the life preserver you need. After the quick setup process, Mega Disc recommends that you restart your computer. Don't bother. Jump right in and start poking around the bare-bones interface. Mega Disc organizes your media in virtual storage units that hold up to 999 discs. Just insert a disc in your drive, and the program registers its basic stats and queries the online CDDB database for label, artist name, and much more (you have to register your computer with CDDB, but it takes less than a minute). Mega Disc tracks discs taken out of storage and notes when they're returned. And while the tree-based search function is hard to find, it's powerful once you do. We recommend this software to people who spend more time flipping through their media collection than enjoying it.

"they're gone and it doesn't work..."

Pros: not a thing...

Cons: you must restart to use the "special fonts", which i did do; website is gone...no help there. can't add new cd into database, which already comes with lame artists like fleetwood mac and sade (UGH)!

"Hopeless installer"

Pros: Impossible to try properly

Cons: Despite several careful attempts the installer was so badly behaved that it corrupted the Registry on WinXP Pro SP2 and refused to complete the installation after the requested reboot. Uninstalling the remains was a nightmare as bits were left behind. Firing up the installer EXE from the desktop started the installation sequence for another unrelated program already installed! On a clean machine it simply hung and refused to complete.

"Minor headaches"

Pros: It was free.. cant argue with that.

Cons: Not much in the way of 'ease of use' when trying to update with CDDB info or making changes. Deleting a database record is next to impossible.. must move/create another music database. Crashed on my XP system now and again. CDDB gives me constant errors anymore.

Pros: Looks up cd info on the web.

Cons: Unstable,
Very ackward and confusing interface,
Would not start half of the time
