"False positives."

Pros: + It's free.
+ Works ok.

Cons: - Gives false positives (Daemon Tools in 'hidden registry keys/values') & (spwn.sys & ftdisk in 'hooked services').
- Didn't detect C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\a8y3u7fp.sys (but AVG Anti-Rootkit Free did).

"McAfee goes free ? . . . Just try it . . . ."

Pros: I heard this from my friend. I've tried and compared it with PC Media AV (Indonesia). Almost the same, freeware, average resource (13kb in memory of WinXP SP2), average deep scan. I think Trend Micro HijackThis may have similar ******** with this one, to monitor unsafe setting running on system.

Cons: McAfee Rootkit Detective still have to improved. Sadly, admin privileges is required to make this tool working properly. You'll sometime experience crash on your system if you terminate it through Task Manager. On certain setting, it becomes slow and doesn't work properly. You may experience more than I've. Flexibility to any computer settings and condotions are main concern for further developments

"It's free,it runs well on the 3 PC's I tried it on."

Pros: It's not slow as some. I've never had a problem getting it to run. And, again, it's free.

"It works"

Pros: Found a malicious program that was not detected by my A-Squared, AVG Anti-Spyware, Norton Security Scan, and AVG antivirus. I ran all of these one after the other because my computer was acting funny and I was convinced something was on it. Well, McAfee rootkit detective found it.
Also, this HAS NOT crashed my computer. It is extremely basic and runs very smooth.

Cons: None. It's free!
