Mail.appetizer is a plug-in for Apple's Mail and integrates seamlessly. The moment a new message is received, Mail.appetizer displays an onscreen notification window. It gives you a brief summary of the message, so you can determine whether the message requires your immediate attention. Thanks to your suggestions and ideas, the new version has many new features, including a resizable notification window to fit your desktop, custom font for the message body, displays sender's photo signature (from Address Book or .Mac), counter showing number of outstanding messages, and it shows mailbox name (optionally).

Mail.appetizer is no longer limited to your inbox. You'll receive notification for every incoming message, not including spam. The notification is shown after rules have been applied.

"Failed but extremely promsing Mail alert"

Pros: The app is supposed to give you alerts as to when you get new emails with Mail -- a major contribution. Easy to use. Future versions are bound to be more sophistocated.

Cons: You have to keep Mail open all the time for it to work properly. Large, obtrusive notice appears in the middle of your screen IMO, this type of app should check with the server intermittently and relay a new mail alert to a neutral location.

"OS 10.4 rejects the bundle!"

"Simple, clean and stable"

Pros: Mail Appetizer stays out of the way, and lets me decide easily whether or not to switch away from what I'm doing to read an incoming message. If not, the notification window is only a click from gone.
