A free program with a laudably simple goal, this download turns PDF files into text format. Its simplicity comes with a cost, however. The interface is extremely plain, except for a handful of prominently displayed buttons and links to the developer's other work.

It functions well enough with PDF files that are only text, but when we tested it on files such as e-books that included photographs or calendars with notes, it often had problems, up to and including failing to recognize the file or the graphic elements. Tables were converted, but the end result was often unrecognizable. The program's output can be viewed and saved as separate pages or as a whole. On the whole, we might recommend the download to computer users working with very simple PDF documents, but anyone trying to extract the entirety of e-books or other complicated files should probably look elsewhere.

"Does Not Work!"

Pros: Easy to download

Cons: Could not view any pdf file.
It takes you to a website to BUY expensive upgrades.

Cons: Could not even open the PDF files I was trying to convert... not sure why. I tried 3 - 4 files
