Editor's review of Kaspersky Internet Security
Boilerplate protection from Kaspersky
Protecting your computer from viruses is not something to take lightly, so we're glad to say Kaspersky Anti-Virus Personal Pro does a reasonable job of keeping your PC safe. We like this application's unique features that protect Microsoft Office applications, as well as the new utilities for safeguarding archived files.
The interface divides the app's functionality into three main areas: Protection, Settings, and Support. The Protection tab offers the meat of the features, with tools for scanning drives, downloading the latest virus definitions, quarantining offenders, archiving, and generating reports. The Settings tab supplies a number of options for configuring the level of protection, scheduling events, tailoring the interface, or adjusting the program's behavior to your liking. The Support tab also gives you some nice features, including a virus encyclopedia and an option for sending the app's developers a questionable file for analysis.
Recently, Kaspersky has been slightly outperformed in catching threats and we find the price to be a bit steep. All told, though, Kaspersky Anti-Virus Personal Pro's combination of tools and features make it an excellent choice for personal use.

Kaspersky Internet Security
Excellent, full featured security suite.

Pros: The single user license is expensive but a three user license sells for $79.95. The same price as "Norton 360" and twenty times more effective. It comes with an outstanding firewall, a malware scanner thats excellent on viruses, trojans. worms and spyware. The detection and removal capabilities in this suite are unmatched. It has a great GUI ans with some time learning this suites features it becomes very easy to use. Updates are as unobtrusive and smooth as they can be. Unlike "Zone alarm", it's very light on system resources and doesn't slow down my system at all. I use this suite and think it's the best all around protection package available. This security suite works perfectly with "Vista" and I can't see it being out performed by any other, similar application.
Cons: The price could be a little cheaper but you do get what you pay for and in comparison to others that sell for the same price, it has no competition.

Kaspersky Internet Security
Good suite but I had issues with it.

Pros: I'll never trash talk about "Kaspersky" but I've moved on. Why? Because my Vista System was big time sluggish and the suites AV module failed to engage about 50% of the time when I booted to my Win XP Pro drive. This suite is very effective, has an excellent virus rating of 97.89% and screams at you, literally when a nasty is detected during a download. The firewall is stubborn but after you tell it a rule it remembers, though sometimes it asks more then once and can be a pain in the rear end. It has a nice interface, updates often, can be configured and is full featured but I can't recommend it for newer computer users.
Cons: Although I hated doing it, I've moved on to ESET Smart Security. The move solved both of the problems I was having with KIS. Vistas performance is what it should have been all the time and ESET's AV always engages at startup on my Win XP Pro drive.

Pros: this was the best but it seemed like every update made it run slower and slower. i still have several months left on the subscription but i had to find something that didn't run like a free security program. i tried the 30 trial of eset smart security, now i have shiney kaspersky box giving me dirty looks, wanting to know what see in eset.

Kaspersky Internet Security
Don't bother
by: SoftwareGuy

Pros: Nothing, read below
Cons: I use Revo uninstaller to uninstall all my programs. After trying out the trial version of this, I uninstalled with Revo. After My computer froze for about 3min, I finally did a hard boot, and logged back into windows. The windows xp boot screen was telling me that Kaspersky was still installed, even after the uninstall. Nothing also, that this "program" destroyed system restore, I finally decided to reformat, and start from scratch. There are better security programs out there, and this one does not cut it.

Kaspersky Internet Security
Its protection is good, but too much user intervention
by: ice_queen85
on 29-Oct-2007 11:02:05 AM
Pros: *database is always updated, as it updates hourly
*it has multiple functions, such as anti-spam,parental control, mail scanner, firewall and etc
*top notch virus, spyware and firewall protection
*not too heavy on the resources
*scans quite fast
*the firewall is great as i've done numerous leaktest, and it seemed to block every exploit thrown its way successfully...
Cons: *to get the optimal protection you must tweak the level of security yourself, as the default recommended security level does not give you the optimum protection
*too much user-intervention, if you enable the proactive defense, especially the program integrity and registry guard....pop-up appears constantly up to 5 times at one time...it doesnt make its own choice keeps asking you what to do.., this can be confusing for a computer novice, as you wouldnt really know what can be allowed and what action should be blocked...annoying...they should really do something about the pop-up..its really driving me crazy...yes i can choose to turn the notification off, but i'd like to know whats going on wit my pc...
*the price is steeped...
*parental control looks like clearly its first attempt...if you have a child, safe to say that you should install another stand-alone app for monitoring, as this function isnt as good as the ones in noerton or bit defender...
