Accountants or casual number crunchers should find this basic freeware calculator a decent replacement for the Windows Calculator, with the added bonus of a "printable" tape. While JD Standard Calculator doesn't offer the exact same feature set as does its Windows counterpart (scientific functions are absent), it does include handy features such as a loan calculator and a savings forecaster. The interface is boxy and clunky, and cluttered with advertising banners--an unfortunate freeware side effect. The program's best function is its tape option. Unlike Windows Calculator, JD Standard can print out calculations over a period of time. You can't "pin" the calculator on top of another window, however, which is a big drawback when working with spreadsheets. Overall, this is a handy tool that offers a good feature set for a price you can't refuse.

  JD Standard Calculator

  Tape doesn't move up, the % key doesn't work

  Pros: It works OK Except as below.

  Cons: The % key gives the wrong results. Entyre 100 * 7% result is 70 and when you press = key to complete the calculation it gives 700. The answer should be 7 after the = key. 70 shouldn't display at all.

  When calculating the tape doesn't move up when the tape display window is full. It should keep moving up to display the last result.
