FlashGet is specifically designed to address two of the biggest problems when downloading files: Speed and management of downloaded files. If you've ever waited forever for your files to download from a slow connection, or been cut off mid-way through a download - or just can't keep track of your ever-growing downloads - FlashGet is for you.

FlashGet supports HTTP, HTTPS, FTP, BT, MMS, MMST, RTSP, ed2k protocol. Optimized the multi-thread dispatching, capability of disc read/ write when downloading; fixed the bug in certain situation that it has no traffic in Drop Zone. Version 1.9.6 added FlashGet Recommendation Page.

FlashGet looks and feels like a download accelerator worth paying for, which makes it all the more appealing since it's free.

After installation, a small dark icon with three lightly-colored triangles will appear in the upper right corner of your monitor. Until you place it elsewhere, the FlashGet icon will live there permanently, and is always "on top" of whatever program you're using at the time. Simply drag the link you want to download onto the FlashGet icon, drop it and hit the Okay button; the file will start downloading automatically. We were able to download a 215MB file in less than 90 seconds with FlashGet, shaving more than a minute off the regular download time.

FlashGet supports more than bit torrent files, segmented downloading, and FTP recognition. It also has a Site Explorer feature that allows you to download multiple files from the same site in a Windows Explorer-style interface. Utilizing the instantly recognizable table, the Site Explorer cuts a lot of time out of navigating graphics-heavy sites, and it recognizes most file types.

  Pros: Downloads so fast that I can't verify its claim to handle multiple downloads at once.

  Nice program, but buggy

  Pros: Manages downloads, just like it claims.

  Cons: Doesn't automatically start downloading when reboot like it's supposed to. Won't remember the download location. Crashes constantly.

  Pros: Faster than normal downloads

  Cons: Can handle a very limited amount of downloads at the same time.

  Internet Download Manager is seriously a lot faster.

  Indeed it downloads faster!

  Pros: Tried to download a large game from Cnet several times, it never went faster then 15 KB/s while my internetspeed is 1.6MB/s or 12.5Mb/s.

  Flashget brought it in with speeds between 70KB/s and 200KB/s! Amazing!

  Cons: stability problems, but after reinstalling on D drive (recommended) it is okay.

  Works great ! but configure it ...

  Pros: I downloaded this program because it is very popular. Everybody talks wonderful things about it. I have not any doubt about its good operation. However, When I configured it, I seemed something complicated because it has more options than other programs. Meanwhile more options has a program it´s better, but if some options are very technical, it will not be easy to find the best configuration in order to get a well working. If you have patience and know what you do with every option, you have a faster downloader with this program.
