Illumio is an advanced feed reader that filters news and blog feeds and shows you the articles that match your interests. Illumio is also social. You can ask questions and get answers from other illumio users as well as share your opinions and comments about feed articles.

Illumio is a Windows download and has been certified by TRUSTe to have no annoying ad pop-ups, no spyware or malware, and strong privacy protection. Version 2.1.13 includes an RSS Feed Search Engine along with UI and navigation improvements to make it even easier for you to subscribe to and quickly read the most interesting RSS feeds.

Editor's review of Illumio

Illumio takes the next step in RSS feed readers by adding a community of users to share comments about articles. Illumio's attractively designed interface is welcoming and very easy to use. We liked the broad categories of feeds in its default list, and how it drilled down to specific preloaded feeds within the categories we selected. Another big plus are the features it provided for adding your own feeds. Instead of having to find a feeds URL on an external browser, Illumio includes a search feature--we entered keywords, and it delivered a list of related feeds. Adding a feed was as simple as clicking a link. The feed reader is based on the familiar three-pane e-mail-client design, so most users will navigate it with ease.

The community features also worked well, and even though we had to provide an e-mail address and password to register our free Illumio account, there was no sense that our privacy or security was being compromised. This application performed well and responded quickly in all our tests. Anyone looking for something different in the feed reader/online community realms should check out Illumio.
