Publisher's description of Identity Finder
Helps you prevent identity theft by finding private information on your computer and prompting you to either securely delete or encrypt the data it uncovers. Uses proprietary search algorithms to uncover multiple variations of private information such as social security numbers, credit cards, bank accounts, and passwords automatically and without requiring you to enter any information. Simple to follow wizards walk you through the process.
Version 3.2 may include unspecified updates, enhancements, or bug fixes.

An effective eye-opener for hidden security risks, Identity Finder antes up some scary results and intensifies the scare by not offering password protection.
The program's clever interface uses a Wizard-guided setup, or you can jump right in and configure its options on your own. The trial version searches through files and sifts through hidden Web data, e-mails, and attachments for personal info such as credit and debit card numbers, Social Security numbers, bank account information, passwords, driver's license numbers, and so on. You also can enter the exact numbers and other information manually.
Identity Finder's search was understandably slow, but it effectively revealed some definite security risks. It showed Social Security numbers and bank account numbers, but not their location on our system, in the trial version. We aren't too pleased with that, since the program is not password protected and it openly displays your card numbers and information to anyone who runs Identity Finder on your system. Shredding and encrypting information isn't demonstrated in the trial version either.
While it does prove its point, unfortunately, the lack of password protection means this program simultaneously straddles the fence of being an identity thief's worst nightmare and his dream come true.

Version: Identity Finder 3.2
Pros: This program works so well it scares the tar out of you! It was well worth the small charge to buy it. After all - how much is your credit worth to you?
Cons: It opens up you computer to a vulnerability. After all - if you have it installed the cracker can use this very program to find the information too! You've just help make his job easier by installing the crackware ahead of time.
Summary: This program is phenominal, it does what I've suspected the crackers do all the time by simply reading your hard drive with an algorythm that finds you logon data, Social Secutity numbers, Credit card numbers, and other dangerous personal imformatio... read more >>
