Peek under the hood of your Web pages with this handy tool. HTTP Analyzer's simple interface sits below your Internet Explorer browser without getting in the way. The multitabbed approach doesn't let you see everything at a glance, but it does make it easy to fit a lot of data in a small window. It's easy to start and stop Web page data capture with the program's VCR-style play, pause, and stop buttons. Other commands are easily identified through their tooltips.

While this tool captures a lot of data, don't expect explanations. This program assumes user knowledge of HTTP, HTML, query strings, and similar Web functions. As you surf, HTTP Analyzer captures Web page data, displaying the code behind the pages in real time. The data will greatly help Web page designers looking to parse code, eliminate slow loading objects, or discover scripts from another Web site. For some information tabs, you can click to switch from the program's formatted views to raw data displayed in Notebook. It is also simple to save data as HTML, Excel, or text, but there isn't a method to compare pages over time to gauge code changes. Our testers found the program responsive, and noticed no slow-downs while surfing the Internet.

In addition to the IE add-on, HTTP Analyzer includes a stand-alone version with the same look and functionality. The 15-day demo will give intermediate to advanced users plenty of time to take this program for a test drive.
