Could not install on a Windows 8.1 PC

Pros
It seemed to go entirely smoothly and simply on Windows 7, but my other PC runs 8.1. After some research, I decided I didn't have time to fuss. Teamviewer came highly recommended and that installed on both computers.

Can't tell; I never got a full installation.

Pros
I switched from TeamViewer to Gbridge over a year ago and was just reflecting on how reliable it is today. I use Gbridge everyday to back up my computer and use the remote access often as well.
Cons
You can run TeamViewer from the net instead of having the program installed - just in case you are on a public computer and need remote access.

Pros
It's free, It can access multiple computers. Works on Windows XP. It appears easy to set up when you follow the directions.
Cons
Gremlinware, it seems to cause different problems on different operating systems. You need something like Revo uninstaller to get all of it off of a computer. It's not friendly to Winodws 7, 64 bit. The vague Google tie-in is irritating.
Summary
I never got my Windows 7 machine to talk to the Windows XP machines. It sometimes took more than one attempt to install it. It needs a program like Revo Uninstaller to make sure everything associated with the program to be removed, when you want to remove it. When first put onto one Windows XP computer, the program just stopped the computer from accessing the Internet. The second time I installed it, the program seem to work fairly well. The Teamviewer program worked on my Windows 7 64 bit computer and netbook. No problem with accessing and controlling the Windows 7 desktop with the Windows XP netbook, with Teamviewer. I was able to listen to some music, see some pictures remotely from a Windows XP desktop using my Windows XP netbook with Gbridge. I may play around with it some more, since I have had some experience now of getting it off a computer, but I just can't recommend it when there are other free programs out there, that are easier to use and work better.

Initial sync setup, particularly between more than two machines, can be a little tedious.

Ever since MS announced they were killing XP support for Live Sync I have been in search of a free, over the net, syncing solution that doesn't limit me by tying me down with intermediary cloud storage and subsequent size/space restrictions. I just wanted my laptop at work to sync with my home computers and vice versa, I do this as a kind of distributed backup system and also so that I can pick up where I left off with work from whatever system is convenient, also keep my music collection up to date. Finally, with Gbridge my search is over. While Gbridge's two way backup way of setting up sync can be a little tedious, particularly when working with 3+ computers for the same folder, once its going, its fully automated and flawless. My core goal accomplished, I was happy to then look into the VNC options. I now have all my parent's computers setup with Gbridge and have "friended" them etc so that when they have a problem I can use Gbridge to vnc in and help them wherever I or they are.

You know I have to say this, I do alot of downloads, to find new ways to do things; and I read alot of the reviews that are on cnet for everything that I download; and I never wanted to leave a review for none of the produce but this one made me sign up to tell everyone that I have tried ALOT of file transfer and remote control software and I did read the reviews for this one and some people had good things to say and some bad! Now after installing this software on two of my systems and running it, just to see what it could do? I found that, first all you need is one gmail account, not like I read in one review that said you needed a account for every pc that you will install this software on, and second this software does for FREE what alot of software make you pay for, now I have 2 or 3 of the same kinds of programs within my network, but I have now install this software not just on my systems with is three desktops and four laptop but other people systems that I help when they need it. Now this is the last thing that I will say I used two programs that I have on other systems to install this one on every system within my network but now that I have this one program I am thinking about uninstalling all the other programs that I have installed on all my systems and for me that is BIG for me, why, because this program is easier and faster than anything I am doing now, both with files transfer and with remote access, I LOVE this program!!

Requires a google address. If you have none it will take a bit of time to setup. Register the two machines, installing on the two of them, etc.

If you Gmail already I think is this right up your alley if not then it's too much of a pain. Imgine having to register 10 machines and keeping track of all this. It should run on just your basic IP address. Make it simple and make the bells options not requirements. I passed.
