Publisher's description of Galactic Civilizations II: Dread Lords demo
From Stardock:The year is 2225. The reckless humans have formed a coalition to defend themselves from the rising power of the evil Drengin Empire. The galaxy is about to be set ablaze but there is something far worse out there than each other...
Galactic Civilizations II is the sequel to 2003's hit turn-based strategy game of the same name. The player takes on the role of the leader of a space-faring civilization and must guide its expansion in a hostile galaxy. Gamers must balance their economic, technological, diplomatic, cultural, and military power to forge alliances, fight wars, and ultimately dominate the galaxy. The game is single-player and allows the player to play randomly generated galactic maps or play through a multi-mission campaign that tells the story of an ancient enemy called the Dread Lords.
This demo gives you the chance to learn the basics of space conquest as you take control of the Humans and pit them against three other races in a battle for total galactic control.

Version: Galactic Civilizations II: Dread Lords demo
"Good piece of strategy, but for HOW MUCH?"
Pros: Nice graphics, good sound, a bit better than at the previous versions. The game itselfs needs some hours to show you everyting, to see where are hidden button-wannabies (be sure to check out the help!).
It seems the AI won't cheat.
You can create small fleets :).
As i see, this program had good beta test, grats!
As soon you buy the game you can download it by the Stardock's software: which'll took a while but ten you can play.
Cons: I wonder if only US residents can buy the game cheaper... Where can i buy it for $39.99? Even the home page sad a higher price, eh?
I missed the automation mechanism which would sole the colonize things. Most of my time is on creating colonizer and sending them onto planets, which is quite boring after a while! Why there's no setting like "Build and send colony ships onto level x-y planets"?
The diplomatic relations are good but i haven't seen the good reason to participate earlier - at GC1 - nor do i now. I can't decide what the subject will be, but well, maybe this is a thing others would write "random events", ok.
This demo is quite little, it won't create you enough possibility for a good game (you can't have own settings for the universe, etc.).
You can create universes you won't ever be able to catch another planets as those planets are far away from your sensors (whatever Mark).

"Worthless. Cheaply made game disguised as 3D game"
Pros: nothing.
Cons: Completely locked up my system. Fried my video card and corrupted numerous files. Was forced to do complete system tear down and reinstallation. STAY FAR AWAY FROM THIS GAME. IT HAS SPYWARE AND MALWARE THAT IT INSTALLS ON YOUR SYSTEM!!!!
