  Pros

  It is clear reviwers have had other problems, do not understand the function af a reg cleaners, and expect a magic fix to all problems. Addittional software can be opted out of during the settup, but is very annoying.

  Cons

  Reg cleaners only remove obsolete entries, and fix erronous ones, so your computer will still have any existing non related faults.

  I guess the basic function works OK, though it is hard to tell because of all the adware problems I encountered.

  Cons

  Installing this adds other programs that you don't want. What is worse, these programs hijack your computer. Among other things, it installed a Trovi tool bar that was especially difficult to remove.

  Pros

  Easy to use. Found over 4000 broken keys in over all five hives in a ten year old machine. Love it. I would suggest running it more than once per session. Will look forward to others from Regsofts.com and will check them out as well.

  Cons

  Came in with lots of spamware type advertising but not worms or virus. Easy to delete. I put this program in another machine but this time I read each page during setup. You can easily opt out of the other programs. Just decline them. The advertising may have paid for the program you are getting for free so I would not complain too much.

  1) So far as I can see it doesn't do serious damage, but doesn't do much good either. 2) Probably gets rid of some Registry errors, but so do dozens of other programs that don't make ridiculous claims about themselves.

  Cons

  1) If you're not careful, can install trojans on your PC that are extremely difficult to remove. I'm staggered that CNET are even offering this program, never mind giving it a good rating. 2) Can easily damage your Registry, but not beyond fixing.

  Summary

  People don't seem to realise that the Registry is more often damaged than not. Windows is very forgiving of this! Personally, after testing for a couple of weeks, I think this program is ineffective junk. I would ask those giving it a good rating, do you understand the "errors" it claims to find? If not, you're not competent to judge it. If you find your Registry corrupted by trojans, very likely after using some CNET software, I found the best solutions are: 1) Use Wise Care 365 to get rid of the rubbish that tends to fill the Registry after a year or twos use. Make a backup of Registry - of course. 2) Again make a backup, and then use Windows Repair (All-in-one) from Tweaking.com. It doesn't pretend to be easy (the Registry isn't) but it does an amazing job of fixing problems. You'll have to trust it to download some software, believe me it's fine and you can easily uninstall it later if you wish. The program takes you through a logical and thorough technique to get rid of Registry hacks. And, please, when you find it works, send the guys a donation. This is one group that deserves one for offering professional software free.

  If you're a Bing lover, you'll love this because it hijacks your browser.

  Cons

  Don't do it! This is probably a registry cleaner, but it also downloads a bunch of annoying spybot/malware programs that hijack your browsers. I should have seen that CNET's review is old, and I clicked through the set-up screens quickly, only catching one sketchy-looking one. Now I'm uninstalling and undoing the damage. This is so bad that I endured Cnet's laborious sign-in, which will probably get me more spam e-mails, to save others from this horrible program.

  Summary

  CNET, I'm really disappointed. I've relied on you for years for safe downloads, and this is the last one.
