Free Download Manager

Fast and Good

by: SENSUAL24 on 12-Jun-2008 02:13:49 PM

Pros: Faster downloads than the one used within a browser. I like that you can pause and resume later and that interupted downloads can be resumed.

Getting Better with each Build

by: Kevy_MT on 11-Aug-2008 01:51:49 PM

Pros: FDM is a very good download manager as well as a very good upload manager. Installation is very easy, and it is basically ready-to-run "out of the box". The preferences are quite easy to setup. And one of the improvement over the last build is the checkbox instructing FDM to "Generage a file name automatically" is no longer checked so that when you start a new download, you do not have to uncheck that option in order to name the file as you want it. Small feature, but it is one of the things I felt needed some improvement.

Cons: Nothing worth talking about

The Open-Source Download Manager (HTTP-FTP-Bittorrent)

by: etenim on 03-Jun-2008 09:42:24 AM

Pros: It downloads EVERYTHING from the Web: it supports "http, ftp and bittorrent" downloads. It is open-source. It requires a small amount of ram memory to work. It is like to have "OrbitDownloader + uTorrent" in a single application!

Cons: There is a small "bug". When a Bittorrent download ends, FDM starts automatically the seeding task: it is impossible to stop the seeding task via the standard STOP button, when the seeding goal is achieved. The only way to stop the seeding task is deleting it.
