Editor's review of Free CD Ripper
This program proves you can still get a CD-ripping application without spending any money. The program's stylish main window is not only attractive, but also very functional, with large, clearly labeled icons for all actions. The program lets you extract files into most popular formats including MP3 and OGG formats, as well as WMA and WAV. Further you can convert the files between these formats. Still, we were glad to find the utility can rip files using the space-efficient VBR compression scheme. This program comes complete with powerful feature-rich recorder included in the package. The output format for the recorder can be pre-set. The user has to select WAV, WMA, MP3, or OGG file as the output and set the quality as desired. However, since you have to keep pressing play every time you want to hear a new track, we don't recommend using it as a dedicated jukebox app. In our tests, the program performed all the functions flawlessly when run under Windows 2000. As soon as we tried to test it under Windows XP, the application crashed and sometimes it crashed the OS too. Under Windows 2000 the app demonstrated good speed, making it easy for us to recommend this app for Windows 2000 users only who are on the hunt for a quality, cost-free CD-extraction solution. If you are Windows XP users, keep away from this program.

Very easy to use

Pros: Extremely easy to use and instal. Rips CD's perfectly, no data mess-ups or any other file problems. Rips perfectly, recommended for a free CD ripper.
Also comes with a trail recorder. Can be useful I guess.
Cons: Stores them automatically in the program files\freeCDripper folder. Rips at a slow speed, but still works.

Pros: Easy to use ripper. Rips to all main formats. Disc info from Freedb. Completely free and no spyware.
Cons: Takes up loads of system resources when ripping, so quite slow if you don't have much memory.

Pros: If you need to have a copy of a cd to use in the car this is the ideal thing as you will have a copy that can be replaced if damaged so there's no need to be careful with it as would be the case with an original

Awful

Pros: Uh, downloaded easy. I scanned it with Norton and it didn't have a virus, that is about the only nice things I can say about it.
Cons: Awful, several error messages, then closed. Tried it twice and same response. Not worth the time to download it. Did'nt work at all!!

Free CD Ripper
Little tune up required.

Pros: Editing track info and choose options for outputs is a plus when you have wrong or missing file info. This software also use a simple and clear user interface which allow a easy controllability for the navigation. It also worked fine on my Windows XP pro sp2 regardless of the editor's review saying that this software might crash the OS.
Cons: When it brings you the window containing your tracks informations, you have to enter them one by one and do a lot of copy / paste for the album name, author as well as genre. Even if you are able to enter symbols or any character you would like in the name of the track, it'll leave a garbage file as an output if you do so. I don't know if you ever tried to rename a file in Windows but it won't let you use symbols and it will tell you, so why is this software is letting you enter them if it's not working?
