Publisher's description of Flagfox
Flagfox is an extension that will display a country flag in the status bar and thus showing the location of the current Web site's server. Flagfox uses relatively little resources, and works by accessing an IP address database contained within the extension rather than relying on top-level-domain roots like .com or .uk. Clicking on the icon brings up further information from Wikipedia or Geotool, which is an online Geolocation tool. Geotool attempts to get more information from the Web site's IP address, such as ISP and city and shows the location on a Google Map.
Version 3.2.1 adds Russian (ru-RU) and Icelandic (is-IS) locales and updated IP database update for March 2008.

This simple Firefox extension will give you some added security while you browse.
Flagfox displays the location of a Web site's server via a flag that sits on your status bar. The flag resembles the server's country of origin. Moving your mouse over the flag reveals the server's IP address. Double-clicking the flag opens Geotool, which displays more detailed information about the server's location including the city and ISP. The Options menu lets you choose where you'd like the flag to be displayed in your status bar. You can also choose alternative flag icons, but don't get too excited, it's not a big difference--the alternative icons are just not as bright as the default icon set. With each site that we browsed, a flag appeared in the browser window that matched the country of origin provided with the Geotool.
While Flagfox doesn't offer real protection from phishing, it can help you make better decisions about which sites you go to. We recommend this free program for users of all levels.

Version: Flagfox 3.2.1
"This is useful, easy to look at and cool."
Pros: I added this extension because I'm interested in flags and like the way it looks on the status bar, but I've also found it to be quite useful as well.
After an uninvited Windows update I started getting "unable to connect to server" messages and neither Firefox (default) nor IE7 were able to load any pages. Testing TC/ICP configurations and connections w/ ping & net view commands indicated that the modem had a connection to my server's IP address and that it was active but nothing more. Flagfox, however was able to indicate that my server was connecting me to websites, which, though it didn't directly help solve the problem was useful information.
