  Because it never really finished scanning a 135 Mb drive, it gave me time to watch some TV and do the dishes before I finally stopped it

  Cons

  Found some useless files over two years old that had been overwritten, and only one of over 200 files accidentally deleted within the hour and with no other activity between deletion and install/scan with this software. Inaccurate and incomplete results. I didn't even try to recover the file it did find. Given its performance, it would no doubt make it impossible to use another app for recovery.

  A waste of several hours pc time for nothing.

  It failed abysmally to do the job.The uk pctools forum is full of dire warnings not to buy it. There is no reply from support. No contact numbers and it is impossible to get a refund

  I would say this company are fraudently taking peoples money and need to be investigated by the FBI.

  Extremely easy to use interface. Straight-forward design. Good for basic file recovery, i.e. pictures, zip file, movie clips, word & excel docs, etc. Most definitely better than file scavenger.

  Cons

  Isn't really any help recovering files from a formatted drive. Lacks the capability to recover files it doesn't know about (.dll, .exe). But if you just need something to recover your word docs and pictures, this is definitely the program for you.

• Recovered only the garbage, never received my CD

  Scan and recover took hours. When I reviewed what had been recovered found several bitmap pictures from the websites I had visited, but the important documents and photos were never recovered in useable condition. Purchased CD and after weeks have never received it.

  One minute I was in tears, couldn't find my picture collection of 5 years. The next moment I was in tears but only for the joy of successfully recovering them with File Recover. I have got Registry Mechanic from this company, but my god, File Recover has to be the best small software that I have ever come across

  Cons

  If you scan the same drive again this software is not able to recognise the files you have already recovered. so you end up with quite a few duplicates You can't multiple-select using ALT ot CTRL

  Pros

  I only needed one file back, but I seriously needed this file back, the trial version could see it as 'excellent' and I took the punt File Recover would bring it back. Thankfully it paid off and I can happily report I have my contract back. good job.

  Nicer interface would be nice, but the current one is functional.
