FTP Desktop lets you access FTP sites as if they were folders on your computer. It turns Windows Explorer into a full-featured FTP client with an FTP site manager. The program lets you view or edit remote files without having to download them first and automatically uploads changes after you close an editor. It supports background file transfers (initiate a file transfer and continue browsing), batch uploads and downloads, and passive mode transfers, and is configurable for individual sites and for site-to-site transfers. It lets you change permissions on Unix servers in the file properties dialog box, resume broken downloads and uploads, issue custom FTP commands, and specify user-defined FTP commands to automatically send after logon.

This is a simple and straightforward program that will appeal to people who prefer to access files with Windows Explorer. FTP Desktop essentially turns Explorer into an FTP client and lets you transfer files without having to download them first. The program supports background file transfers, batch uploads and downloads, passive mode transfers, and site-to-site transfers. One handy feature is that the program lets you save settings for each FTP site, such as initialization commands or usernames and passwords. FTP Desktop performed flawlessly in all our tests. Overall, we recommend this reliable program for anyone who needs a no-frills FTP client.

"It uploaded files over my intranet corrupted."

Pros: The inter face was easy to use with out a steep learning curve.

Cons: 2 major flaws. 1 the corrupted file upload over the intranet only. The internet upload to a remote server was fine. 2 the upload button needs a last file used memory option.

"Works pretty well"

Pros: Only problem I have, is that it doesn't warn you when you are overwriting files on the server. But for the most part, I would recommend it.

Pros: This is one of the first shareware programs I've ever actually bought after using. Great program, super easy to use & runs great on my system - definitely the best FTP app I've ever used.

"using it for updating website"

Pros: It is simple and straight forward. Drag and drop and the files are uploaded.

Cons: I'm missing in chom tool the possibility to set the permission numeric f.e. 755. instead of ticking boxes. This works faster and is easier to control.

"Not user friendly at all! Uninstalled the program and installed Bulletproof ftp client is so much better!"

Cons: You have to know a lot about ftp programs and what files and directories goes where. You have to do everything yourself and then upload.
