In what might be an unprecedented gaming-industry development, Nadeo has created an entirely new version of its Trackmania series for use in the Electronic Sports World Cup 2006. This completely free version of the arcade racing game gets rid of the classic settings such as the desert and city and places the entire action within the Trackmania stadium. The game includes a whopping 100 levels -30 beginner, 30 advanced, 30 expert, and 10 pro. An included level editor lets you create your own marvelous tracks with 110 building blocks, including ramps that go fully vertical. You can practice all the tracks solo or compete in time trials against up to eight players on the same machine. All the tracks also are available for Internet play against racers from around the world.

Starting a game involves creating a profile, in which you select the name and nationality of your car and driver. Sixteen nations are represented (though Germany, France, and the U.S.A. dominate numbers in online play), and if your country isn't, you can always go into Paint mode to create a car that reflects your national pride. We offer a warning for all those wishing to race for other countries: be sure you know the language, because messages will arrive in the local tongue, and you'll be placed by default into online matches against representatives of the same country, who, again, chat in their native language. Starting a LAN match against local opponents or venturing into the Internet game is quite easy, though we didn't figure out to import our own created tracks into the online play, which was part of the fun of the original Trackmania. However, for a free racing game with stellar 3D graphics and online multiplayer action, Trackmania ESWC stands head and shoulders above any competitors.

  I can't believe they would make something this good a free game!

  Pros: Its FREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

  The graphics are awesome. They make use of newer hardware. The game is backed by NVidia as well. So I think they probably had some play into making the game look great.

  Audio is great. It sounds wonderful!

  The first free full racing game.

  The game is fun.

  The game comes with 30 practice track to get you accustomed to the controls if you want to learn the game before going online.

  The game comes with a track builder.

  Local computer bases 1v1 is available.

  LAN based play is available.

  You can join in-progress multiplayer games.

  THE GAME SUPPORTS WIDESCREEN RESOLUTIONS!!!!!!!!!!!

  Cons: There is only one mode of play online. You race against 5 other players against the clock, and against staying on the track. The first to reach the end wins. Its all time based, there is no element of racing against one another where you interact with the other racers.

  There is no multiplayer game browser. You click for online play and it will place you in a game.

  Some people complain of the program saying a bad CDKEY is being used.

  People are saying that this game installs the StarForce copy protection driver. I can't fidn it, but will keep looking.

  Pros: awesome graphics, FREE!, great gameplay, very customizeable as far as cars and tracks go. I highly recommend this game to any racing fans out there, or anyone looking for a free and fun game to play!

  Pros: i like racing games as much as the next guy,however this game stands out from many others because of its control and physics

  you jump from buildings and roads and have to glide your car like a flight sim so you land in the correct part of the road

  theres not many free games any more but this gets top marks,the graphics are good,the audio is good,the game is good

  this is why you cant complain....its free

  Pros: Excellent graphics (especially if you have a Gforce graphics card!)!! Tons of options for one player, or playing on line. Usually you do not see games like this for free.

  Cons: I checked my system over for adware/malware, spyware and such, and I did not find anything in any of my scans. I won't downplay anyone else has said about malware; be sure to check your system after you have installed this game. Make sure you set a restore point, just in case.
