Publisher's description of Desktop Calendar
From Tinnes Software:
Desktop Calendar is a highly customizable calendar program that turns your desktop into a traditional wall calendar, by rotating the background image on a monthly basis (optional). You can enter important dates such as dentist appointments, birthdays, or deadlines. Then when you turn your computer on, or that day rolls over you will be alerted of any events. Befitting its name, it's a "straight-to-the-point" program with which to organize your life. The calendar itself can be as bold or discreet on your desktop as you see fit, and due to its design doesn't take up many systems resources. Version 0.42b may include unspecified updates, enhancements, or bug fixes.

Editor's review of Desktop Calendar
There are simply too many calendar programs on the market, so we expect a lot from programs that claim to be "highly customizable." Desktop Calendar places a calendar grid on your (duh!) desktop to which you add appointments and reminders. Notes appear on the calendar once entered. Events can be exported to CVS, DAT, and TXT files, or imported from CVS or DAT files. The only customizable feature we found was one to change the color of the calendar, however. We also couldn't figure out how to set reminders for upcoming events. While Desktop Calendar works just fine, it's got so few features we feel it's hardly more useful than some freeware apps on the market. And last we checked, most paper calendars were cheaper, too.

Desktop Calendar
Excellent, Unobtrusive, Lite on Resources, Simple, Handy & Easy to Use.

Pros: I seem to have the free version. Paid version has more features & is more customizable, but the free version is exactly what I'm looking for. Currently, it sits at the top of my desktop in the style of the rest of my icons, showing just the time & date, including the weekday. Only when I hover my mouse over the time/date does the calendar come up, & only for 5 seconds. You can add notes or reminders that pop up later when your computer starts up for that day. Not very customizable, but so. Not so much a scheduler as it is a simple reminder.

Desktop Calendar
Economic and undemanding.

Pros: First off; don't pay any attention to download.com's money-biased review of this product, it's a flawed review from start to finish. They reviewed the free version, yet slated the price of the optional-purchase upgrade. Secondly, if they'd taken the briefest of glances through the menu they'd have found much more to customise than the colours such as the shape and size, many of the functionality features and even the appearance of desktop icons.
If you want a fast, reliable and economic desktop calendar, download this program.
Cons: No throw away gimmicks to get bored by within an hour of installation.

Desktop Calendar
The best, easiest desktop calendar out there!!!!

Pros: After looking at the competitors, primarily Active Desktop (way too many features, most of which I will never use) and NVN for Outlook (Outlook, UGH!), this is easy, fun and tells me just what I need to know. I love the fact that after 30 seconds it becomes invisible until I need it again. Can't live without it!
Cons: I'd like a sound message/snooze when I have an appointment in case I'm not looking at my screen. That's the ONLY feature that Outlook has over this one. I don't use the wallpaper packs as I use Webshots.

Desktop Calendar
You can see important appointments on the wallpaper all the time

Pros: As soon as you turn on your computer you will see your months activities displayed as part of your desktop. You can also right-click it to choose a colour to blend in, so it looks neat. You are reminded by a pop-up as you turn on your computer of any events for that day. You can repeat appointments (such as birthdays) on a yearly basis. Simple, but neat. I can't live without it now, and have come in to download it for the second time, having lost my first copy in a computer crash.

Pros: I love this product. To be as descriptive as possible would require all the words in the world! All I can say is that without this fantastic app, I'd do everything bad from forget to pay my rent, to forget a little birthday! And the wallpaper packs are great too!
Check out the full version, you wont believe the difference.
