From Ambrosia Software:This adventure game provides you the opportunity to have a different story unfold each time you play. You are the owner of a spaceship, and your goal is to make money and build your empire. You do this by taking jobs that often include transporting people and/or goods. Along the way you encounter a variety of obstacles, including enemy spaceships, pirates, and more. This game combines action, adventure, and strategy elements into one experience. Version 1.0.5 is a maintenance update.

"Awesomeness plus expandability"
Pros: Pretty straightforward, you start with your shuttlecraft, you earn money, buy some guns, then either be a pirate, or fight for one of two warring factions and get their warships if you please. Then you can take over the entire universe, or you can download one of many, many plugins that will expand or replace the universe, with new storylines and ships and everything.
Cons: Mac only :( Somewhat dated, but the abundance of plugins can replace anything and everything for you if you so desire. Followed up by EV:Override and EV:Nova (which has plugins to convert to EV and EV:O if you like, with its new graphic engine).
