Editor's review of ESPN BottomLine
You don't have to keep a browser window open to stay up-to-date on sports scores, thanks to this stellar newsreader bar. ESPN BottomLine is a tastefully designed bar that scrolls the top sports headlines and scores. You can drag it anywhere on your screen, so it can remain in sight or out of the way of your work.
The bar is divided horizontally. The top lists a variety of sports--NFL, MLB, College Football, Golf, and so on--which you can use like tabs to view the category you want. The bottom displays headlines and scores, which scroll upward. Click the displayed story, and ESPN BottomLine opens a browser window with the story at ESPN.com. Clicking the Options icon opens a simple menu that lets you choose the sports categories you want and specify whether ESPN BottomLine displays both headlines and scores or just one for each category.
This tool worked great in our tests, but we were disappointed that clicking a story link opened ESPN.com with Internet Explorer instead of using our default browser. But sports-minded users shouldn't let this one flaw deter them from trying this exceptional free tool.
