From Microsoft Games:Players return to the world of Aranna and start an all-new adventure in the Dungeon Siege expansion pack, a standalone addition to the popular Dungeon Siege PC title. Players are drawn outside the original Kingdom of Ehb into the wilds of Aranna to solve an ancient mystery.
The adventure reveals the origins, lives, and eventual downfall of the ancient Utraean civilization. Building on the critically acclaimed gameplay of Dungeon Siege, the expansion pack features a new part of the world to explore, fantastic creatures to battle, treasures to loot, mysteries to unlock, weapons to wield, armor for protection, and unique item sets.
Note: This is a very large (248MB) file and may take several hours to download via dial-up modem.

As in the original, you start as a lowly farmer inexplicably chosen to complete a dangerous quest. You organize sympathetic characters into a party that will fight nasties that stand between you and your goal. As you gain experience, your skills will improve, depending on your character and the actions you perform.
The few new features, such as a backpack for storing extra items, are welcome. Some of the complaints about the original still ring true: The storyline is meager, and the pervasive artificial intelligence means that you'll often spend more time watching your party fight monster after monster rather than controlling the action manually. Also, Legends of Aranna is designed for beginning characters, so players can't import their high-level characters from the original. For gamers unfamiliar with the platform, the demo for this expansion is a great introduction to a very good game; those who already love or loathe Dungeon Siege will have little incentive to try the expansion.

Version: Dungeon Siege: Legends of Aranna 1.0
"Gives players more DS1 until DS2, but not a great add-on."
Pros: Same single player experience as DS1.
Same type of good music as DS1.
Same great graphics as DS1.
Cons: Story is no better than DS1.
A little shorter in terms of game length when compared to DS1...probably about 33% shorter (in respect to time)...but its an expansion, what do you want?
Online play? Its built in, but I don't think many players play it.
After beating it you will probably have no desire to play it again at the higher difficultly levels. All the DS games try to do the same thing as Diablo II in that you would feel compelled to play the higher difficulty levels...but the difference between Diablo II leaves you wanting more, while DS is quite fulfilling one time through the game.
