Publisher's description of Diskeeper
From Diskeeper Corporation:Diskeeper 2008 introduces the most powerful defragmentation engines ever developed. Even on systems with as little as 1% free space available, Diskeeper restores performance and reliability. Diskeeper 2008 is completely transparent and runs in real time. It taps into unused idle resources with a breakthrough background processing technology called, InvisiTasking. This means no performance lapse is ever caused by fragmentation related build-up; giving the user maximum speed and reliability at all times. See for yourself. Version 2008 may include unspecified updates, enhancements, or bug fixes.

- "Defrag made easy"
The beauty of Diskeeper is its simplicity. It runs in the background and when your machine is idle it automatically defrags, so that manually defragmentation becomes as necessary as a dial-up modem. The application is tremendously efficient.
There's scheduler, although the app contains a manual defragger so you can force a systems check. Other options will appeal to advanced users. Boot Time Defragging defrags your hard drive at start up, but also slows down the boot process. I-FAAST defragging sequences files in conjunction with the automatic defragger. Frag Shield keeps critical system files from fragmenting. Diskeeper keeps your swap file at the front of the disk, which makes transferring information considerably faster.
Obtaining Diskeeper isn't as simple as using it, and you must register for the trial at the publisher's Web site before downloading. The boot-time defragger adds the long defrag process to your start-up, so it may not be worthwhile to all users.
Still, the performance and functionality are superior to those of similar programs, and the user interface is intuitive. Diskeeper is well suited to users seeking better system performance and willing to pay a bit extra for the experience.

Version: Diskeeper 2008
Pros: ?????????????????? NONE! But, I was dumb enough to try it again.
Cons: I'm done with these so called professional defrag programs, all of them. The supposed optimization of my drive took forever. Then, the next time i started my "Windows Vista Home Premium" system, there was a major disk error and though windows tried to repair it, it was not repairable. The PC would not shut-down or re-start on it's own. I e-formatted my PC and am done with these garbage programs. Get the ever free and very safe "AUSLogics Disk Defrag". No problems with it, ever.
