While this role-playing action game may seem antique to some, it still offers plenty of adventure for fans of the series. Disciples puts you at the head of an army of no more than six units. Your soldiers come in only four forms, either fighters, archers, magicians, or clerics. The combat system is simple: your units align in two rows, and take turns fighting. The controls are basic and the gameplay fairly straightforward, yet there are plenty of options to increase your players' strength and skills, which keeps the action interesting. The look and feel of Disciples truly puts you in the medieval realm, yet given the age of the technology, it's still not too shabby despite its low-screen resolution. Overall, old-school mages and warriors might enjoy this challenge, but most will probably want to upgrade to Disciples II.

In a medieval world where the impending approach of a new millennium sets in motion a desperate struggle, four realms--the Empire, the Mountain Clans, the Legions of the Damned, and the Undead Hordes--find themselves mired in conflict that is rooted in disputes between their gods. Old rivalries and hatred drive the gods to wage a war of total destruction against each other and their realms. This was prophesied, as was the only way to end the madness: the realms themselves must fight each other to the death. Only by completely vanquishing the other realms will the victor and the victor's gods survive and enter the new age.

Disciples - Sacred Lands is a turn-based strategy game. Gamers control one of the four races as they guide them through the chapters of the Saga, developing powerful mages and warriors, discovering ancient artifacts and scrolls, and leading parties of intriguing characters in battles of sword and sorcery. There are two playable quests included in this demo, one for the Empire and one for the Undead Hordes.

Game features include a fully explorable medieval world; more than 100 spells, each boasting its own dynamic animation; an engrossing story line; multiple scenarios; hundreds of gameplay hours; and multiplayer action over the Internet or LAN.
