Publisher's description of Desktop Warrior

From By The Sword Software:

Desktop Warrior is a desktop game application that runs while you are working on the computer, at work, or at school. Everyone can download and play Desktop Warrior for free up to level 20, but afterwards you must register your copy. When you purchase your copy you will be able to Go Online with your warrior and be able to utilize the huge Auction House, join and leave kingdoms, and wage wars with other kingdoms. Also, you can battle your warrior against your friends warriors through MSN Messenger. Desktop Warrior is constantly living. What I mean by living is that as you level your experience points earned increases after every level, the monsters you fight constantly become stronger along with you, and items can be mended into rare and treasured pieces of equipment.

    "Its great game!"

    by Yellow69 on June 24, 2006

Pros: ITs great how you can go up to level 20... that way you can experience what the game is all about and have a thought about purchasing it afterwards.

Cons: Grahics are pretty bad but it doesnt take a lot of room... so I guess its worth it.

"DW is one of the most addictive games I have ever played."

by sauerch on January 18, 2006

Pros: The best thing about Desktop Warrior is the ability to work on other programs (Lets say while you are at work) and allowing you the ability to level your warrior without interupting your focus. Desktop Warrior allows you to build your warrior offline and in your spare time, or while doing other tasks at the same time. It offers the ability to challenge players over MSN messenger. The online play consists of kingdoms, and rankings based on level and kills. There is a king in each kingdom who can star wars with other kingdoms and everyone in the kingdom can fight for items and gold in this "epic" struggle. The interface for the desktop allows you to customize your warriors stats and add abilities when you level. "DW" gets back to the basics in its simple design, but adds advanced features that allow you to customize your character by collecting weapons, choosing both a class and a profession, and allowcating skills based on experience. The game accomodates many different styles of play from the auto attack approch to the allowing you to manage the attack, heal, and skills used in battle. The addictive nature of the game comes from its endless possiblities. There is no level cap. There are no requirements for Items. There is a map which you can navigate and each area has its own unique BOSSES that give up unique Equipment for the taking. There are shops to buy and sell items, and a roaming gnome crafter who can add stat points to your items, but watch out sometimes he doesn't know his own strength. It allows hte ability to load animated gifs that display as your image in the desktop application and in the MSN "duel" interface.

Cons: The interface is a bit hard to get used to, perhaps if in the file menu it had links for the advanced options page for both item assignment and skill disbursment. There also is are a few quirks with it taking focus when you are working on other programs. The only way to move around the map is by opening up the full desktop interface. The loading of a picture to display as your character can be confusing.

    "Addictive and entertaining"

    by Nyguitar83 on February 20, 2006

Pros: The creator of this program has done a terriffic job of bringing together a game that is fun and entertaining but not overly time consuming. It is the type of program that you can play in the middle of writing a paper to take a break, while surfing on the web or while talking to friends. The learning curve is minimal and the game is fun to play over MSN. While there are some odd areas, they come from the creators past game creations. Gnome craft was such a creation which he played in the dorms with his fellow hallmates. These areas help add to the imagination and creativity of the game and enhance the carefree aspect of it.

Cons: Could use some slight modification to interface, some items should be made more powerful but still, overall a very fun game.

    "Fun game"

    by aaron.heller on January 18, 2006

Pros: Fun game. Fighting over MSN is pretty fun--head trophies are nice. Large selection of weapons and armor (both of which can be mended to be stronger). Has auto attack feature that allows you to play w/o much effort if you're doing on other stuff on the computer at the same time.

    Cons: The blacksmith is evil--BEWARE!!!

    Some cheesy comments/places during game

Sounds/merlin can be annoying, but can be turned off.
