The WinCustomize skin browser is a new program that allows you to instantly customize virtually any part of your Windows PC. It does this by integrating with the WinCustomize.com database of skins, themes, icons, wallpapers, and so on. The browser can directly apply these skins and themes to your desktop. The program can also automatically find the latest version of a particular customization program and offer to download it and install it for you if you need it. Version 1.9 may include unspecified updates, enhancements, or bug fixes.

Desktop-enhancement enthusiasts have created a veritable universe of themes, skins, logon screens, and cursors for Stardock's Object Desktop suite. Stardock keeps a database of these tantalizing desktop objects, and WinCustomize Browser lets you meander through it. After you've registered your account, the program displays a list of skins, themes, and widgets. Using the browser,you can easily search the list and add comments. The browser also provides convenient access to the WinCustomize forums. Unfortunately, the trial version omits the program's most important feature: downloading. The full version comes with a year's subscription to Wincustomize.com and access to all the goodies. But with the demo version, you can look, but you can't touch. That makes it a no-brainer download for prospective WinCustomize.com customers, and a dubious one for everybody else.

"Useless..."

Pros: It can install stardock stuff automatically.

Cons: I tried this hoping that it would have good search features, but they are just as poor as the website. You can't even do a simple query such as showing all windowblinds skins with a rating of 5 stars that were last updated in 2005, for example. Don't waste your time. I find it to be just as difficult to use as the website.

Pros: I have yet to use the browser. However, it will probably work as well as all the other programs produced by the folks at Stardock Central. Keep up the good work!

"Serves no real purpose - shell prgm to limit/manage others progms"

Pros: I didn't like anything about his program.

Cons: It takes over other programs that I downloaded directly from creator's websites and tries to incorporate its desired limitations - it does this so you will be forced to purchase their programs.
