Version: WavePad 3.05
Pros: I've always used Wavepad to cut and edit songs but not for extended use. It is very small, and useful when trying to simply edit things instead of using a huge program to do the job. It views quite an amount of file types, and also not resource hogging.
Cons: Although it's very good, for some reason, every few weeks it would say my trial expired, however after closing the notification for expiration window, it simply works again. The first time I laid eyes on this program, it said "free", and now it's not free anymore? I'm a bit confused.

Version: WavePad 3.05
Pros: i tried the basic-free edition few months ago and it was nice.
Cons: It was a really nice program, offered in two editions: Basic and Master. Basic was free while master was not. To my great disappointment they don?t offer any more the basic-free edition.

"Good program by itself, but their support sucks"
Pros: This product lets me do just about anything I want as far as editing sound tracks and converting to different formats.
Cons: The company does not seem to care about supporting their product. I had a question about how to convert a track that is supposedly stereo (but the sound only comes out the left speaker) to being actually stereo. The program does not seem to let me do this. I couldn't find anything that would do it in the help files so went to the support forum on their website where I found several people asking the same question, going as far back as 2005, most of whom got no response and one of whom received an Admin response asking for more info but, though the original poster posted back with the requested info, the Admin person never posted again. Frustrating. Still, I've had this for like 2 years and this is my first major problem with it.

"Can't back up and re-register after crash"
Pros: Really good software for WAV and MP3.
Cons: If your computer crashes, you can't reinstall. You have to register it online after installation and the license is only good for ONE registration, ergo, you have to buy it again. I found out the hard way. Can't open Real Audio files.

Version: WavePad 3.05
"Good program, but doesn't work well under Vista"
Pros: I've used it for light editing and used the equalizer feature to reduce low-frequency noise, and it works great.
Cons: Under Windows Vista
(1) It crashes with about every third or fourth file you try to load. The only workaround I've found is to load that file under XP and save it without changes. The file you saved will then load under Vista.
(2) It often changes the Vista system sounds, so that you computer starts making sounds for no apparent reason. The fix is to Start | Control Panel | Hardware & Sound | Change System Sounds, and change back to the default, or whatever you want.
Other comments:
- The equalizer is very slow
- It hard to find the free version, so you tend to get the Masters Edition, which stops working after a while, until you pay. The free version is at nch.com.au/wavepad.
- They don't see to be fixing these problems.
