Publisher's description of AVI Codec Pack

From Avi Codec Pack: The AVI Codec Pack is a collection of codecs and filters. Codecs are needed for encoding (and decoding) audio and video. This will allow you to play all major audio and video formats, including DivX, XviD, 3ivx, AC3, and OGG. During the installation you get to choose which components/codecs to install, and after installation you will be able to play encoded media right away. Version 2.2.1 is a minor release featuring a few bugfixes along with some codec updates.

  Does contain a virus

  Pros: Not a Damn Thing

  Cons: After installing AVI Codec Pack 2.2.1 AVG Anti Virus advised me to clean and quarantine AVI Codec Pack 2.2.1. Lets just say it not on my computer anymore.

  I would give it zero stars if I could. I thought c/net Download.com wasnt suppose have crap like this on their website? I guess I was wrong. Shame on you c/net Download.com

  Norton antivirus says it contains adware

  Cons: When I installed the software I immediately got a message from my security software stating that it contained adware. Don't download this piece of ****.
