This application displays a simple running graph of your TCP/IP speed, but doesn't allow you to freeze the graph to check specific point values. The customizable interface displays a real-time graph easy enough for novices to understand. The graph displays download and upload speeds in kilobytes per second. You can easily customize graph transparency and spike colors, but window size is locked. Some users may find the graph too small. The application's memory usage on our test system was about one-sixth of the Windows Explorer shell, which is a bit large for a monitoring application. Warning: on program start Speed-o-Meter displays a pop-up ad for the publisher. Any level of user will find this application easy to use, but the lack of a log reduces its benefit for power users.

"Show correct internet speed but has a minor startup problem for Dial-Up users."

Pros: I was looking for a Free Internet Speed Meter. This program served the purpose. The display is really cool with see through feature so that you can see whats behind it. The speed is pretty accurate and does not slow down the connection. The program is very usefull for Dial Up users especially who are not sure how fast their connection is.

Cons: On Startup there is an Error Message showing "Socket Error" everytime I start my PC. I presume this is because I have Dial-Up Internet connection. The program starts on its own on startup and because there is no internet connection on start I get this Error Report. There is no option of preventing the program to Start on Start-Up of PC. Hope the next version will fix this bug.

"30 days evalutation version. Not tested."

Pros: Not tested, it is not free. So at least one major flaw. Use RxTx 3.2 instead.

Cons: Not Free !!!
According to the license agreement:
"After the 30-day evaluation period, you must pay for Speed-O-Meter according to the terms and prices discussed in Speed-O-Meter's documentation, or you must remove Speed-O-Meter from your system."
And it should be installed. RxTx 3.2 doesn't need that.

"no free license"

Pros: nothing, just read the License Agreement and you will see it's not a free software. I stopped setup.

Cons: This really upsets me: why does it say that it's a free license? It is free only for 30 days, later you have to pay. I have nothing against charging for a software but this makes us loose our time downloading a file we do not want to purchase later !!!
