Pros: have not had many problems. a good extra in the arsenal. i also used the start-up lock utility for awhile.
Cons: i stopped using the start-up locking utility because it didn't keep everything off the start up menu that well. "spybot search & destroy" works better

Pros: I think it is a good program
Cons: Win32:Adware-gen was what avast found on a crawler setting a toolbar that you can chose to install while installing this or right after the install.

"Excellent and easy to use security suite"
Pros: This is designed for the novice. It downloads easily, sets up the same way; everything is pretty much automatic. It integrates seamlessly and thoroughly with existing programs and functions so that you are rarely denied access to anything (if you are is eaily remedied).
It updates virus and spam signatures in real time and you have a lot flexibility in how you want to set up scheduling for scans going forward. It does not have a fast scanner like ESET, but it does not appear to hog resources like Norton.
If you want an internet security suite that runs quietly in the background, does not disrupt your life, but does a great job just the same, this one will do that. Since it is free, this is even better.
Cons: I only have 2 reasons for not giving it a 5 rating (and I did think about this). As mentioned above, the scanner is not a fast one; be prepared for scan time of an hour or more if you have a lot of files. The second is its apparent lack of Zero day detection. That can be easily remedied, but most of the major companies are including that in the package.

Pros: This antispyware is excellent! I have it on my Windows XP and it does everything it says and more. Detects spyware, keyloggers, and Trojans very well, and also includes a unique feature, it creates a log of your executables and notifies you when a new program tries to exectute itself. Yes it is annoying when installing new software but its a great feature.
Cons: The scans slow down your computer, but fortunately the scans are rather fast, It is ideal to scan your computer after a session.
