Version: Colin McRae Rally 2005 demo
"I think you'll have to buy the game to really know."
Pros: Based on the demo, the graphics look pretty nice (there are odd white abstracts that the developers claim will be fixed in the retail version). The trees, roads, cars etc look quite realistic.
It looks like they put a lot of time and energy in this game. It's absurd reading one line comments from reviewers saying a game sucks or crashes their computers. I'd love to know how many tens of thousands of hours went into writing this type of software. It deserves better reviews.
The game works great, quite realistic and it's fun. I look forward to trying the full retail version. Congrats to the software authors!
Cons: The only real issues I had with it were the initial splash screen (visible during the menus screens) and the inability to use anything other than my keyboard in the game. Yes, the retail version will allow a game controller, and technically, this demo is supposed to as well. I couldn't get my option configurations to stick though. I'd click on my controller, go back to them main menu, check the options again, and they defaulted back to original. Regarding the splash screen visible in the menus, I hope they change this in the retail version. It's a terrible scene of a highway basketweave in grey and white. The kind of dreary stuff I have to look at every day driving into work. I was hoping for a colorful Rally style intro. It almost puts me in a bad mood just starting the game!
Also, the download.com writeup says you get a choice of three tracks to try out in the demo. I could only access one.
By the way, if you don't have anything good to say about a game, then try to be more specific about your concerns with it.

"Horrible steering - you can't drive those cars !!!!"
Pros: Okay, the graphics are not bad. Quite nice, but not very astonishing either. No real improvements compared to earlier versions of Colin McRae.
Cons: Ha, who wants to drive a car that cannot be controlled ? It's VERY HARD to drive these cars on dry ground, but it's a REAL JOKE to try driving them on snow (like in Sweden). No real car could ever drive as bad as this "simulation". In fact, Codemasters made the worst part of Colin McRae ever. Forget this piece of crap and don't waste your time downloading and installing it.
