Clone is an easy-to-use file backup utility. Clone can be configured to carry out automated backups of your critical data. Once you have configured Clone you need take no further action to ensure all your important data is backed up, it's all carried out automatically. Clone copies files from one location to another. Your files are copied "as is" making it very simple to recover after an unforeseen loss of data. Clone does not use any proprietary format for storing your files, you won't even need a copy of Clone to restore your files, and Windows Explorer will do the job.

Clone will back up files to any media that can be mapped to a Windows directory, including UNC paths. For example, you can back up to a second hard-disk drive, a CD-RW/DVD-RW drive, a ZIP disk, or a network file server. You can use file filters to specify in detail which files you want backed up, for example DOC will only back up your documents.

This program lets you easily create tasks to back up and synchronize files from drive to drive or across networks, but lacks the ability to back up using FTP. Clone can operate as a standard Windows program or automatically as a screensaver. The interface is a standard series of dialog boxes, but is simple to use. We like the simple task creation dialog with three clear, simple settings. Advanced users can opt to make the backup procedure more detailed, but it isn't required. The Clone task creates complete copies of any folder on your system or to a writeable CD drive. Users also can set the program to mirror any two folders on the same system, over the network, or through FTP. For all tasks, Clone allows users to set options to overwrite older files with newer versions and copy files of a certain archive setting or size. We found Clone's ability to run tasks during downtime by starting when the screensaver kicks in especially useful. This time-saving utility's simple operation will appeal to novices. Advanced users may prefer a tool with more robust options.

  Version: Clone 2.1

  "AWESOME"

  Pros: I've been searching for weeks, months really, looking for a simple little software program that does EXACTLY WHAT THIS PROGRAM DOES! I carry an external hard drive between my home and office, I have to sync the files daily for changes. Up until now, I've had to do it manually or simply copy over entire directories which is time consuming. FINALLY I found this little program that works quickly and does exactly what I need it to do. What a GodSend! All the other programs I found that claimed to Sync my files for me where all so over-blown and filled with options and technical crap that I simply did not need or want and certaily didn't have the time to figure out. This program is quick, easy to use, and straight forward. I had my drive sync'd in less than 5 minutes from the time I downloaded it. AWESOME!
