Publisher's description of DVRMSToolbox

DVRMSToolbox is a set of tools to perform actions on DVR-MS files. Create scheduled tasks that process your recorded TV while you sleep, or if you are a more visual person a there is also a GUI that will run the applications. A set of "Profiles", or configured set of actions, is included in the installation package. These include convert DVR-MS to MPEG, DVR-MS to MPEG w/o commercials, DVR-MS to WMA, and DVR-MS to WMV, cut commercials out of a DVR-MS file and output DVR-MS and out of DVR-MS, output DVR-MS and DVR-MS with commercials. The "Profiles" are flexible, you can change the actions in the included profiles, or create your own using the DVRMSToolboxSettings application

  "Doesn't work on Vista OS"

  Pros: Sounds like a great application and exactly what I need.

  Cons: It fails to install on Vista because it requires an older version of the .NET framework. Too bad. Hopefully a fix is in the works.

  "Convert dvr-ms to mpeg vey good"

  Pros: Convert from dvr-ms to mpeg was very good

  Cons: No browser to find video files. Had to type in complete paths for input & output. ie. input: c:\videos\name.dvr-ms & output: c:\videos\name.mpeg

  Conversion from dvr-ms to wmv did not work?

  "Does the job"

  Pros: Very good quick little converter. cut out the commercials beautifully and saves loads of space on hdd.

  Cons: Needs a slightly better user interface but i worked it out in a few seconds so for what it does its worth it.

  "Poor User Interface"

  Pros: It may have worked as advertised, but the user interface and nonexistent help files made this program too much of an effort to try to figure out.

  Cons: The user interface is atrocious and not intuitive. If it had decent help files, I may have been able to figure out how to work the application. This program seems like it was written by a hard core programmer and like most hard core programmers, this one has no design sense. If he creates a new version, he should illicit help from a graphic designer to help him design the user interface and help files.
