Though utilitarian in design, Cellar The Ultimate Wine Companion catalogs exhaustive wine collection details. A busy interface offers numerous options to manage wines and more, though the Help file lessens the learning curve of getting started. The multitabbed window to add a new wine may be daunting initially, but some fields are prefilled and you can opt not to add images, costs, or tasting notes. Wine lists are organized by country, region, and appellation, and the winery, label, vintage and other details are shown for each entry. Practical tools like Geography Data, which shows regions and appellations for a country, and an encyclopedia of wine terms that goes the extra step by including audio files of the correct pronunciation for many entries will help broaden your knowledge base. The 25-wine limitation is reasonable enough to "experience" the program, though the hefty 31MB download is a potential turnoff. You'll have to be database-savvy to use this wine-management program, but it does offer some fairly nice features.
