Publisher's description of CachemanXP 1.6.0.15
From Outertech:CachemanXP is a Windows utility designed to improve speed and stability of your computer by optimizing several caches, auto-recovering RAM and fine tuning system settings. Oneclick-Optimization makes it suitable for novice and intermediate users yet it is also powerful and versatile enough for computer experts. Backups of settings ensure that all user modifications can be reversed.
The help file includes a screenshot based performance guide. Version 1.6.0.15 adds among Intel Quad-Core and AMD Phenom processor support also WindowsXP Service Pack 3 compatibility. From now on CachemanXP tweaks the DNS Cache in order to improve Network and Internet performance. Several other program sections have been improved and some minor bugs fixed.

Gain greater control over your system with this cache, tweak, and memory tool, but the demo prevents testing the simple one-click optimization favored by novice users. CachemanXP uses a combination of a tray icon pulldown and an easy-to-use multitabbed interface. The program's primary one-click functions are easily accessed from the main interface. Select commands can be quickly started from the tray interface. The help file/user manual is extensive, and written with the novice user in mind.
CachemanXP offers a dual approach. Many functions are single-click auto optimizers. Recovering RAM, optimizing your system, or invoking many useful tweaks just takes a click each. However, the Auto-Optimize function is disabled in the demo. For advanced users, the program offers straightforward methods to quickly and easily change many subsystem settings. The utility primarily operates on system caches; Windows File, browser, thumbnail, icon, and Domain Name Service caches can each be easily tweaked for optimal performance. A group of tweaks can be quickly implemented to improve system performance for power users.
CachemanXP makes it very easy to save all settings before making changes, and to easily restore previous settings if you aren't happy with the changes. A very simple report generator lists all running processes. With the program's auto-optimizing tool disabled, this demo is best tested by experienced users. We found the setting changes could easily improve user experience and system speed, but in the wrong hands they could as easily have the opposite result.

Version: CachemanXP 1.6.0.15
"THE optimization & Tweak tool gets better"
Pros: It's glad to see that Outertech is up to date, this new version adds support for Intel Quad-core CPUs and AMD Phenom CPU, Windows XP SP3 compatibility, DNS cache tweaks improvements (in order to improve networks and internet performance).
I really recommend this program, it's a very well written software.
Cons: I've checked that this version, under the options tab, has something called "Do not use performance counters" and it's not explained on the Help File. So, just this explanation is missing.

Version: CachemanXP 1.6.0.15
Pros: I do a lot of graphics and photo manipulation, cutting and pasting objects from many photos together, and using any number of graphic enhancements (sometimes in non-standard ways), until the pieces make one entirely different photo. This takes a lot of memory, and I know from experience that I couldn't do it without CachemanXP.
The response time of my computer is virtually instant. There have been exceptions to this rule, and I would like to touch on that, as it may help others: At times, when I'm saving an especially unwieldy photo, it will seem that my computer has "frozen." If I call up Task Manager, it will report that some program(s) are "Not Responding." What this actually means is that the OS (Microsoft XP SP2, in my case) doesn't recognize how CachemanXP is working with available memory. I now simply walk away from the computer -- and, in two minutes or less (depending on the complexity and memory demands of the multi-part photo), the photo is saved, and everything has gone back to normal.
