Cacheman is a utility designed to improve the performance of your computer by optimizing the disk cache, memory, and a number of other settings. Cacheman is able to prevent frequent paging to the hard disk, resulting in improved performance, system-reaction time, and stability. Wizards and predefined profiles make it suitable for novices, yet it also is powerful and versatile enough for the more experienced user. Cacheman also corrects generic problems on systems with more than 512MB of RAM. What can you do with Cacheman? You can optimize the disk, name-and-path, CD-ROM, and icon caches. Periodically you can recover memory. Watch and monitor several important system values such as overview page, history graph, and logging. Tweak several system settings to improve performance. Use the tray icon for monitoring. Create system configuration reports.

Cacheman is like a tailor for your system's disk caches, giving you the ability to modify the chunk size, icon cache, memory, and optical disk drives. Using optimization wizards, Cacheman detects your system's most efficient disk-cache settings and makes modifications to improve performance and stability. If you prefer to tweak these settings yourself, Cacheman provides a user-friendly interface with slide adjustments for individual cache settings, or four pre-set values based on what your system is used for the most, such as file-sharing or network applications. You can save different settings as profiles in order to apply your custom configurations quickly.

Cacheman also includes a memory-recovery module and various system tweaks that let you define things such as the Start Menu delay time, or the time it takes to shut down a frozen application. The comprehensive help files explain cache subjects in easy-to-understand terms and offer guidance for proper cache settings. However, you can seriously impair your system's performance if you tweak your settings incorrectly, so newbies should stick with the wizards. Cacheman's optimization will make your system run noticeably faster.

"Manages RAM and System Cache efficiently...."

Pros: Manages RAM and System Cache efficiently....
it improves the performance of your computer by optimizing several caches, auto-recovering RAM and fine tuning a number of system settings.
+ uses minimal resources and virtually no CPU time.
+ Try CachemanXP for Windows NT4/2000/2003 or XP Operating Systems.

Cons: - Auto-Optimize is disabled in Free Trail.

"I liked it so well that I sprung for the retail version!"

Pros: It's easy to use and has great wizards to make setup easy! I had it on Windows 98 and when I went to XP I bought the retail version for XP. It's great as free ware but better in the retail version especially in Win XP.

Cons: I really can't think of any!

"Chews up more RAM and is taxing on the pagefile."

Pros: It worked okay at first.

Cons: Only a few days after I installed, windows gave me the "virtual memory minimum too low" message. It made most of my programs run worse and Firefox seemed to leak more RAM than it usually does.
People need to get Linux. I only tried this because I don't have a computer I can put Linux on and I wanted to get better performance from crappy ol' Windows.

"Not for xp"

Summary: The program give me a blue screen of dead[PAGE FAULT IN NONPAGED AREA error]on windows xp pro.
only format disc helps.

"Can not recomend"

Summary: I only now this. Install Cacheman 5.50, do it on your own risk. Every program even startup the computer gets slower, specially gaming. After uninstalling everything is good again. I have intalling and uninstalling with the same result. My purchase o... read more >>
